I started taking pictures when I was 4 years old and my grandfather said, "Here, take a picture of me and your Grandmother." while vacationing at Niagara Falls. I was instantly hooked!
In high school, I received my other grandfather's Pentax SLR, photographed some friends' bands and then later learned classical portraiture while working at Olan Mills & Bryn- Alan Portrait Studios.
I've always thought of photography as instant gratification in art, even when we still had to develop film. Capturing the essence of a person, place or thing takes timing, patience and a little madness. You've gotta be a little wacky to get someone to relax while pointing a camera at them.
